Optical Comparators Preventative Maintenance

Preventative maintenance and calibration of optical comparators at ICS is a multi-step process of evaluation, repair, and optimization.

First, an overall machine evaluation is performed to identify areas needing attention and establish a strategy for moving forward. The machine is inspected to identify debris and material impeding its performance and wear points.

Then, we perform a thorough cleaning of the machine:

The outside of the machine.

Accessible lead screws and bearing ways.

All optics.

Any burrs and high spots on the table surface and ways.

The light source is cleaned, optimized, and aligned parallel to the optics.

Each component undergoes cleaning, lubrication, and alignment.
